CASE PROBLEM III: Total liquid hold-up with specifications on the packing and column characteristics

Problem statement: The user looks for total liquid hold-up measurements in the integrated databank obtained by a weighting procedure for air-kerosene downflow through a Nickel/Molybdenum/Alumina (Ni/Mo/Al2O3) spherical catalyst bed.

1) Determine the expected total liquid hold-up and flow regime for trickle-bed operation at 1 atm with air mass flow rate of ca. 0.2 kg/m2s and kerosene mass flow rate of 10 kg/m 2s.

2) For the same operating conditions & specifications, determine what would be the maximum kerosene mass flow rate in order to maintain the flow into the low interaction flow regime (LIR)?
